While renting a car last summer in Northern Italy (Varese area, Lombardy), we did some research into waterfalls in the area, eager to try out some ideas we had. Although we didn't manage to capture what we had in mind, we did manage to capture something magical in its place.
Since our flash got a little wet earlier at the start of the day in our first destination, we decided to opt for a shoot using only natural light. Saying this, I did manage to get a reflector involved for a couple of shots, depending on your idea of "natural-only" we kept to the basics with some rays coming through the trees.
Navigating the rocks was a nightmare. After capturing the shot with the sun as a backlight and rays through the trees, we decided to go natural-only. With less light, more issues arose, especially as it was getting late, and the light was diminishing near the waterfall itself.
But what can I say? We enjoyed ourselves for the majority of the day as we didn't have an exceptional amount of privacy and didn't want to surprise any unsuspecting visitors.
